ABOUT ME
I am a printed textile designer from Essex, UK., currently in my final year studying BA (Hons) Textile Design at Nottingham Trent University, where I specialise in printed textiles.
My fascination for creative arts and textiles has always been apparent from a young age - always captivated and distracted by colour, pattern, texture and sound. I knew I wanted to pursue a career in art and design, so after completing my GCSE’s, I studied UAL Art & Design Level 3 Diploma, followed by UAL Art & Design Foundation Diploma, before starting my textiles degree at Nottingham Trent University.
At university, I have had the opportunity to explore other disciplines, including embroidery, knit and weave, and designing for live briefs and competitions for brands such as ROMO and Joules.
I have experience designing prints for various market levels, including fashion apparel and interiors. My most recent final year project is an A/W 22 Women’s Loungewear Collection, ‘Elemental’, inspired by three natural elements: Earth, Air and Water.
This project aimed to create an elegant printed collection, inclusive of three sub-groups that bring the beauty of the outside into the comfort of the home. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, I wanted to adapt to current loungewear trends, but I also wanted to fill a gap in the market: elegantly printed mid-high market loungewear.
It was vital for me to create designs that focus on comfort, practicality, and tactility to increase garments’ emotional durability and longevity. I did this by combining luxurious prints and quality fabrics for multi-use and sentimentality purposes.
My favourite thing about my degree has been the breadth of the course, from drawing, researching, designing, creating and being able to submerge myself fully into concepts and processes that I am most passionate about. The scope of the course has enabled me to develop my design handwriting and helped me realise my potential for working in a design, trend, or styling job role.
